Tata Daewoo launches its premium truck ‘Prima’. The launching ceremony of Tata Daewoo’s premium truck ‘Prima’ was held at COEX(COvention EXhibition) Exhibition Hall in Seoul on September 14, 2009. Mr. Ratan Tata, Chairman of the Tata group and other senior executives attended the fuction along with 500 guests. Five models of medium and heavy commercial vehicles such as 6x2 tractor, 6x4 tractor, 25T cargo, 25.5T dump and 5T cargo were presented at the launching ceremony. Sales of these vehicles will start from October Tata Daewoo plans to make its premium truck ‘Prima’ a stepping stone for the Company to consolidate its position as a global truck maker. Over the past 5 years, around KRW 100 billion has been spent in the development of ‘Prima’. Furthermore, customers’ requirements and the market trend were aggressively studied and incorporated from the early stages of development. Tata Daewoo’s Premium Truck ‘Prima’ is fitted with 500-hp engine, the highest in Korea and is equipped with a multi-purpose cab and conveniences with all cutting-edge technologies applied. ‘Prima’ also provides not only comfort thanks to its spacious interior, but also top-class safety, superb ergonomics and excellent durability as well as aero-dynamic style, grand and sophisticated look. It is expected that Tata Daewoo’s premium truck ‘Prima’ will become one of the best trucks to be recognized by all customers. In his congratulatory address, Mr. Ratan Tata said that Tata Motors and Tata Daewoo’s joint development of ‘Prima’ truck range was a significant event and Tata Daewoo would be able to make inroads into the world market. In his opening address, Mr. Chae, Kwang-ok, President of Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle, stated, “Tata Daewoo premium truck ‘Prima’ has finally come into the world after more than 100 cabs were produced and tested to ensure a world-class cab design.
